Spring Has Sprung
So…
Spring has sprung, as they say. The winter weather has been breaking and we’ve been enjoying it!
Last night our friends Tina and Sean got married! The ceremony was outside on a large balcony at the venue. There was a slight chill in the air, and the wind was present as it always is at the beach. However, it was mild enough to all be outside and it was a wonderful time.
When Suz and I arrived back home this morning, I decided it would be nice to take out the kayaks for the first time since last summer. The sun was shining and the wind wasn’t too strong. Over the winter, we got a spot for our kayaks at the neighborhood park. Which means launching is much easier now. The yaks are right next to the water!
The canoe next to our kayaks on the rack had a bird nest in it. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a couple freshly-hatched Mourning Dove chicks! Very cute. Suz insisted I stay away as not to disturb the babies, but I snuck in close for a quick photo. Sorry Suz!
We got the kayaks down off the rack and into the water. Suzy bundled up because she’s always cold no matter what, but I was comfortable in a long sleeve T. We paddled leisurely down Beaver Dam Creek. It was very relaxing and fun!
On the way back to the launch, Suzy started to get tired and sore from paddling into the wind. She somehow convinced me to tow her yak with my paddle leash. What a sucker I am! She did paddle most of time I towed her and we got back no sweat.
Now I’m ready for some full on summer weather!
