Spring 2023

Soooo………..

Now that spring is almost over and summer is almost here. I finally found enough time in my busy schedule to update my website with a new blog post!

Since my last entry on here, work has been very busy with my company being purchased by a larger drilling company. There has been much to do as far as integration is concerned, while continuing the day-to-day geophysics work! It has been a very positive experience so far and I am continuing to grow professionally with this new company. New standard operating procedure involves taking a drone photo of the job site after the work is completed. I never thought I would be into drones but this has gotten me pretty excited! As part of this new development, I was required to pass the exam to get my FAA remote pilot license for unmanned aerial vehicles. Pretty cool! Here is a photo I took at a jobsite near New York City last month.

Outside of work, me and Suz did a little travelling with our friends Keith and Felicia. We went to New Orleans, Louisiana for a long weekend! I have never been so full so many days in a row; the food and drink were fantastic. I tried alligator for the first time…tasted like chicken. We also went on a cemetery tour and stopped into a voodoo museum. The only hang-up was the trip home. A severe thunderstorm caused our flight home to be canceled and our best option was to make the drive back home from New Orleans which took 17 hours. Flying with this group of friends seems to be cursed (see my Key West blog). Overall it was a nice getaway and I made a video summary of the highlights. Enjoy!

Another highlight this spring was the bachelor party trip to Montreal, Canada. No travel issues this time, we flew in a private plane there and back. Talk about cushy travel! No photos or videos from that long weekend. I’m legally not allowed to say anything more about it.

Other news: I went back to the dentist for the first time in 6 years due to my dentist anxiety. No cavities! Go me! I got two new tattoos, both of which are birds which is not surprising if you know me since I’m an amateur birdwatcher. And Suz and I went into NYC to see Book of Mormon on Broadway! I got goosebumps on several occasions from the talent of the singers, and of course we were both laughing the entire time.

I am looking forward to a nice warm summer with plenty of time at the beach, riding my bike, kayaking, paddleboarding, and spending time with my Suzy in our backyard which we just cleaned up to be ready for summer. I also just impulsively bought a 150” screen for our projector for backyard movie nights. It’s enormous and amazing. See ya on the next blog!
