I’m going to be a dad?
So……..
I haven’t posted a new blog in quite a while. Even my last blog post was a single photo and barely any text to read up on what’s going on in my life. Well, a LOT has been going on - no surprise there, my life is an absolute whirlwind. There are so many things I could make this blog post about, but I’ll focus on 2 things
Suz is pregnant (since July! Due end of March)
The log work on my home is all done
So here’s the number one news, me and Suzy are going to be parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not be more excited. It has been quite a journey for Suz in getting pregnant. First finding out that it was not happening naturally (not for lack of trying for a couple years). Then finding out she has a reproductive disease called endometriosis and required surgery to remove abnormal growths throughout her entire abdomen. Then being told IVF is our only chance of having children. Then going through all arduous IVF process of shots and medications multiple times a day for months. Then the IVF failing when the embryo transfer didn’t work. Then getting pregnant the natural way! The doctor told us our chances of natural conception are so slim it was something like a 5% chance of Suz getting pregnant naturally. Damn, I guess we’re pretty lucky.
Anyway Suz has that big thrid-trimester belly and she is rocking it hard! You always hear that the mother is “glowing” during pregnancy and I never noticed it until it happened to Suz - she looks stunning.
That photo was taken nearly a month ago so that bump is even bigger now. Oh yeah I also got a haircut. It was long for just about 10 years and I just woke up one day and had the thought “you know, maybe I should cut my hair short”, so I did. Anyway, I couldn’t be happier to have such a wonderful partner in life, and I am overjoyed at the prospect of her being a mother. We’ve been together 20 years now, and married for 12 of those years, so I know Suzy pretty well at this point. That kid will be lucky to have such an amazing person be their mother.
I’ll keep the second highlight of my recent life short and just say that It’s been a wild couple years of working on the exterior of my home almost constantly. I’m extremely proud of myself that all the log work is finally completed. There are many other things on my to-do list with this great house, but the big thing is all done.
No more rotten wood exists in the logs, the carpenter ants have been annihilated (as far as I can tell), and the outside is now perfectly protected from the elements so that no future issues should arise. WHEW, what a job. I learned a lot, but I am glad that’s over. Here are some updated photos of the front, side, and back of the house. All patch work completed, stain and top coat applied. I do love this house.
Next up on the house is re-siding the 2nd story, and Paul will be doing some interior work to help our family get ready for another member.
The next blog post will probably be after our bundle of joy enters this crazy world.
See ya then.
